The Village | Terra Chã

From Chãos we can visit the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park. Walking along the hiking trails we will end up at the Gruta de Alcobertas, the Dolmen, the Potes Mouros or even Fátima.

Along the paths you come across wild orchids, herds of goats, red-billed crows and many other species.

Nature turism

The village of Chãos is part of the parish of Alcobertas, in the municipality of Rio Maior. It is located on a plateau on the southern slope of Serra dos Candeeiros, at the top of the mountain. The privileged location of the village offers a landscape of rare beauty that stretches as far as the eye can see.

When you climb the mountains, to the west, your gaze reaches Nazaré, S. Martinho do Porto, Peniche and Berlengas.

Chãos Village

It's a small village with around 150 inhabitants of all ages: it's a living village! Walking through the village, it is possible to observe traditional rural structures that testify to subsistence farming and a life in constant struggle.
